Patient Link was
founded in 1990, and is a registered
charity, which is totally funded by
voluntary donations and fund raising
events. One of its aims is to
provide a transport service for
patients of the “Willow Green”
practice who find it difficult to
attend appointments at the surgery,
local hospitals, clinics and health
centres etc.
The service is
operated by a team of unpaid
volunteers - drivers and
office-based co-ordinators. In
return, patients are invited to make
a donation towards the drivers
motoring costs and if there are any
surplus funds they are used to
contribute towards the Charity’s
operating expenses which are minimal
as it does not employ any staff.
Fund raising events
are held, generally in Spring and
Autumn; and, in addition, there is
usually a Christmas raffle and the
surplus funds are used to cover any
remaining overheads and then provide
the surgery with additional
equipment to improve the well-being
of its patients.
Half-yearly health
education talks are arranged at the
surgery, and these are open to all.
Patient Link acts as
a Patient Participation Group, and
is the link between patients and the
surgery.
If you are a “Willow
Green” patient and require
assistance with transport, then ring
01903 788142, but please give at
least 48 hours’ notice.
If you feel that you
could help in any way, and would
like to become more involved, then
ring the above number and leave a
message for the Secretary.
