Coronavirus Update

The surgery is currently assisting in Arun Integrated Care PCN Vaccination Programme, due to this we are only able to deal with urgent medical issues. Please read below for further details.

Covid-19 vaccinations:

We are very aware of the significance and importance of the Covid-19 vaccination, and would like to reassure you that the Arun Integrated Care Primary Care Network (PCN) surgeries have been working hard  to get a central location up and running to provide vaccinations in Rustington covering East Preston and Littlehampton. We have not been able to confirm any details until now due to uncertainties from NHS England.

This has been a very testing situation for all concerned due to the complexities of the Pfizer vaccine and the logistical challenges that it brings, which are more complex even than has appeared in the media. Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust is the lead provider for the vaccination programme in West Sussex and are responsible for co-ordinating and managing the delivery programme, alongside Sussex CCG, GPs and other NHS trusts in West Sussex.  We have had to submit a plan for approval for a single designated site from which the local practices can give the vaccine. Westcourt Medical Centre is the designated site for AIC PCN surgeries, and is awaiting vaccine supply.

We are pleased to announce that the site has now been approved by Sussex CCG, and the surgeries are working together to finalise the procedure for vaccinations. NHSE has brought all vaccination sites online in a “Wave” system with staggered start dates to avoid supply issues – these have happened nonetheless and hampered efforts. National media messaging has set expectations that are not always possible to meet as every site is different and may be allocated to a different Wave to other local sites. At the time of writing, the nearest places currently ready to give the vaccine to health and social care workers are the hospitals in Portsmouth, Worthing and Brighton. The focus for GP surgeries is the vaccinations of all care and nursing home residents and staff along with the over 80s population within the PCN’s.

We are delighted to announce that we now have a confirmed delivery date to receive the Covid-19 vaccine later this week, though it is difficult for us to release details since NHS England will not confirm delivery time until the night before and as the press has reported, delays have been problematic. The local surgeries are working together to visit all care and nursing homes to administer the vaccine. Contact with patients is in line with government and NHS guidelines, and these cannot be influenced. Bookings will be conducted by our local federation, Innovation in Primary Care (IPC), who will call patients directly to arrange appointments (please DO NOT call your surgery who are not able to make an appointment for you).

There are over 2000 people over 80 in the PCN, so the practices ask for patience and your consideration that they will not be accepting incoming calls in relation to booking a Covid vaccination appointment – they are simply completely unable to arrange this for you.

As the vaccine hubs rolls out vaccines, a key reminder of 3 things:

1.The NHS will contact you when it’s your turn, so please do not contact your GP beforehand.

2. Please act on your invite when it comes, and do not arrive more than 5 minutes prior to your allocated time.

3. Remember Hands, Face, Space. It will save lives and help the NHS.

Stay safe.

If you have a new mobile number that the surgery may not be aware of, please go to

Willow green Surgery are operating a telephone triage system only

In view of the developing circumstances surrounding the spread of Covid-19 and in line with NHS England policy, you will not be able to book routine or face to face appointments for the foreseeable future. All health concerns will be dealt with using our telephone triage system and we may offer video consultation.

Face to face appointments will only be offered after speaking to a clinician.

Online Bookings Temporarily suspended

Due to the ever changing situation with the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have suspended the online booking service. This is due to the verbal screening process that we need to complete before appointments are made – we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and ask you for patience and understanding during this time.

Please download the NHS app to order prescriptions online or post the request in our letter box.

For any patients that do not at present have a nominated pharmacy, the prescription will be sent to Kamsons Station Road, East Preston for you to collect until you nominate a pharmacy.

As part of our response to the COVID-19 issue we are looking how to optimise the care we offer our patients. Remote access via phone, mobile text messaging, email and video calls will be essential to achieve this. We require your consent to do this. Please complete the CONSENT FORM and send this to us.
